Everyone loves the great stories about the members of the Georgia Animal Hall of Fame. But, those awards and stories only come around once a year. What if you hear about a great animal story in March, should you have to wait until October to nominate it for the Hall of Fame? Not anymore.
The Georgia Veterinary Medical Association has begun a new year-round program to raise awareness of the animals that enrich our lives. If you know an animal that has performed an act, or possesses a personality worthy of praise, let us know. The GVMA Spotlight will shine on animals throughout the year, with recognition on the GVMA website and in GVMA publications.
All Spotlight animals are automatically nominated for Animal of the Year in their category in the Georgia Animal Hall of Fame.
Categories
Hero - Animals who have saved or preserved human life.
Companion - Animals who have provided a benefit to their human companion or to their community.
Professional - Specially-trained assistance animals.
Therapy - Animals certified in animal assisted therapy or activities.

Any GVMA member or their staff may nominate an animal for the GVMA Spotlight.

Nominees must be animals living in Georgia who exemplify the affection and value of the human-animal bond.

Veterinarians and their employees are not eligible to enter their own animals.
- If inducted into the Georgia Animal Hall of Fame in October, the animal and owner/caretaker must be able to attend the Awards Ceremony and Luncheon at no extra expense to the GVMA. (large animals excepted)
