Method of Delivery Defined
Through their Continuing Education Program Application, the Georgia State Board of Veterinary Medicine has defined what types of education qualify as “live” and “non-interactive”.
LEAP
Veterinarians must obtain 30 credit hours of Board-approved continuing education every two years (each “renewal period” falls in even-numbered years) to maintain an active license to practice in Georgia. The next renewal deadline is December 31, 2024. All GVMA Continuing Education events are approved by the Georgia State Board of Veterinary Medicine.
As of Jan. 1, 2009, two of the 30 hours per renewal period must be acquired in Georgia laws, rules and professionalism, also known as “LEAP”. GVMA LEAP CE courses fulfill the state requirement and are free for GVMA members. Find a course near you on our LEAP CE calendar.
You must keep a record of credit hours and proof of attendance for three years.
For detailed information, view the State Board rules for continuing education or visit the Georgia State Board of Veterinary Medicine.
