Bella, Max, Charlie top list of 2010 pet names

What do dogs and vampires have in common? No much, but the No. 1 name for dogs in 2010 was the same as a vampire-loving teenager: Bella, from the Twilight series. This was the second year in a row that Bella topped the charts for dogs, according to Veterinary Pet Insurance’s (VPI) top 10 list of pet names. The company took the data from its list of nearly half a million insured pets.

Bella was also on the cat name list, coming in at second most popular after "Max." The name "Charlie" appears low down on both the cat and dog name Top 10 list, but it was the top name for exotics.

The company also released its list of wackiest names for dogs and cats. For dogs, some gems were Lady Chuckles of West Oak, Virginia Woof, and Lord Chubby Pruneface. As for cats, some of the winners were Admiral Pancake, Senor Nachos and Foofoo Tinkerbelle.
