Course Description - 4 CE hours
Radiology Positioning and Interpretation
Each participant will have hands on experience of correct positioning of sensor and tube head in order to achieve a diagnostic film quickly and efficiently. Common oral pathology seen on radiographs will also be discussed.
Regional Nerve Block Analgesia
Each participant will be able to learn and practice on a cadaver in order to become proficient to perform these techniques within their hospitals. Agents, dosing and timing of administration will also be covered in this lab.
Periodontal Therapy and Hand Instrumentation
Peridontal disease etiology and treatment protocols will be discussed, as well as, the proper use and maintenance of hand instrumentation, including instrument sharpening.
Annie Mills LVT, VTS (Dentistry) is a 1983 graduate from Macomb Community College in Macomb, Michigan. Since graduation, she has practiced in small animal hospitals around metro Detroit. Her experience includes general practice, surgery, emergency and critical care, and dentistry. In June of 2008, Annie received her VTS (Veterinary Technician Specialist) in Dentistry and is the current President of the Academy of Veterinary Dental Technicians. She has published several articles for Veterinary Technician and NAVTA journals, and is a co-author of Small Animal Dental Procedures for Veterinary Technicians and Nurses. She has also given various lectures and wetlabs at several national conferences in the many disciplines of dentistry.
Annie is currently working with Dr. Brett Beckman DVM, AVDC, FAVDC, DAAPM in a mobile dentistry practice, treating referral cases in Atlanta, GA, Orlando and Fort Myers, FL.
