Ways to Get Your Clinic Involved

Order at least one case of Josh kits. Having a sample kit in your reception area will spur a lot of interest.  Your clients can either (a) purchase a kit to give to someone they know or (b) donate the price of a kit so your clinic can give the kit to your local Children’s Miracle Network (CMN) hospital. If they purchase and take the kit with them, a portion of the purchase price still gets donated by Josh and Friends to the local CMN hospital. Either way, seriously ill children will benefit.

Design a poster or a flyer to display in your office that explains the program. This saves your staff time and gives people information they can take with them to help further spread the word.

Put out a large glass container with a sign on it “Donations for Josh Puppies for Drop-Off Children” near your check out desk area. If you put some change and a few dollar bills in it, people will be encouraged to participate. The term “drop-off children” is unknown to most people so should also generate interest.

Clients (or staff members) who donate the cost of a complete kit, are given a “This Puppy and Book are donated by ____ in hopes that you will feel better soon” label to fill out. The name of your animal hospital can also be shown on the label. The label is then put in the inside front cover of the book before it is given to a child. Most people decide to use their pet’s name instead of their own – just one more proof of the importance of pets in our lives! (Sample label. White mailing labels are available in a variety of sizes from office supply stores.)

Put information on your web site. For ideas, look at Dr. Rick Berta’s site.

Do a press release to your local media about your involvement. Spread the good news and enthusiasm throughout your community. (Sample news release.)

Hold a Josh Day bake sale, pet photo contest, car wash, pet poem contest, etc. with proceeds or registration fees going to buy Josh kits.
