Treatment Options

Along with exercise, nutrition will be an important area to explore, by educating the owners about best practices for their pet’s size, breed age and of course, weight. Nutritional health can be confusing, owing to the number of factors that contribute to the animal’s weight.

A program customized by your staff is the safest, most effective treatment plan.

The goal of treatment will be to balance the nutrients from the six required groups: water, protein, fat, carbohydrate, minerals and vitamins.  With overweight dogs, it’s important to balance essential nutrients with moderation and correct proportions.

It’s recommended that dogs on a weight reduction program lose no more than one to two percent of their body weight each week.12
