30 Jan The GDA Wants to Hear From You About Rabies Vaccine
by Dr. Wendy Cuevas, MS, BVSc, MPH, DACVPM
Rule-40-16-1-09 was a little confusing to licensed Georgia veterinarians. The wording can be interpreted by some to imply that all veterinarians must be licensed and accredited by the USDA in order to administer the rabies vaccine to animals.
The proposed rule change specifically states that in order for a veterinarian to administer the rabies vaccine, they must be licensed within the state of Georgia. This is in line with the law O.C.G.A. § 31-19-5.
