ECVC Speaker Spotlight on Dermatology




Join us at the Emerald Coast Veterinary Conference on June 13-17 to hear Dr. Tomeshia Hubbard speak on dermatology. Dr. Hubbard will discuss:

  • Food Allergy Dermatitis: How to Perform a Proper Food Trial
  • Flea Allergy Dermatitis: Diagnosis and Treatment.
  • Pemphigus Follaceus: The Most Common Autoimmune Disease
  • Methicillin Resistant Staphylococcus Pseudintermedius (MRSP) Infections.

Dr. Hubbard is a native of Birmingham, AL. She received her bachelor’s degree in biology from Talladega College in 1998. She acquired her doctorate of veterinary medicine from Tuskegee University’s College of Veterinary Medicine in 2002. Shortly after finishing veterinary school, she joined Red Mountain Animal Clinic as a small animal practitioner. She then went on to complete a rotating small animal medicine and surgery internship at Indianapolis Veterinary Specialist and Animal Emergency Center in Indianapolis, IN (2004). Thereafter, Dr. Hubbard joined Banfield, The Pet Hospital in Morrow, GA as a small animal practitioner for 2 years. Dr. Hubbard also completed a 3 year veterinary dermatology residency at the Atlanta Veterinary Skin and Allergy Clinic in Atlanta, GA, with adjunct training at the University of Georgia. Her residency was completed in 2009.

She is currently a member of the Upsilon Eta Omega chapter of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority Incorporated, where she serves as chair of the Step/Stroll Committee. Dr. Hubbard also serves as the president of the Tuskegee Veterinary Medical Association. She is a member of the American Academy of Veterinary Dermatology, the Alabama Veterinary Medical Association, the Jefferson County Veterinary Medical Association, the American Veterinary Medical Association and is licensed in the states of Alabama, Georgia and Indiana.

Dr. Hubbard is currently practicing in the state of Alabama. She sees patients at her privately owned, referral-based, veterinary dermatology practice, the Alabama Veterinary Allergy and Dermatology Service in Homewood, AL. She also operates a satellite veterinary dermatology practice in Huntsville, AL, at the Animal Emergency Clinic of North Alabama. Dr. Hubbard is an assistant clinical professor of veterinary dermatology at the Tuskegee University College of Veterinary Medicine.

Dr. Hubbard’s interests and hobbies include reading journals and novels, shopping, horseback riding, traveling and modern dancing. She also enjoys mentoring young adults and encouraging them to pursue a college education, particularly in the veterinary sciences. Dr. Hubbard has a dog named, Neno, who she loves dearly.
