10 Oct Latest Hurricane Michael Update:
Wednesday, October 10th, 1:50pm: Hurricane Michael is expected to bring severe weather to the southern part of Georgia. The Georgia Veterinary Medical Reserve Corps (GVMRC) are on standby to assist with animal emergencies. If needed the GVMRC will be up and running after the storm. GVMA members can also contact the GVMA (firstname.lastname@example.org) to be put on a list of hospitals available to help people and their animals.
Wednesday, October 10th, 12:00pm:
Animal interstate movement requirements for entry into Georgia are temporarily suspended for the transportation of animals from areas affected by Hurricane Michael in Florida and Alabama. The suspension of entry requirements applies to animals entering Georgia from Florida and Alabama only.
In an effort to facilitate the evacuation efforts in Florida and Alabama, the Georgia Department of Agriculture has temporarily suspended interstate movement requirements for animals evacuating due to Hurricane Michael. This temporary suspension does not apply to normal animal movement that is unaffected by Hurricane Michael.
This suspension is temporary and will expire on October 25, 2018, unless it is rescinded or extended.
